Fisher Announces Class of 2017

EASTON, Pa - Head Coach Alison Fisher has announced the addition of nine incoming freshman to the Lafayette women's lacrosse program as part of the Class of 2017. The group includes four from Pennsylvania, two from New Jersey and one each from Delaware, Maryland and New York.

"We are thrilled to welcome the class to 2017 to our program," Fisher said, "this group brings with them an incredible level of talent, experience and competitiveness."

"They are fast learners and already this fall they have assimilated themselves effortlessly into our team culture, and I expect that several of them will make significant contributions this spring." Fisher continued. "Collectively they have incredible potential and I am confident they will bring much success to College Hill throughout their four years here."

Four attackers, three defenders, and two midfielders make up the class.

Christine Besselman, Defense, (Council Rock South/Holland, Pa.): Four-year varsity letter winner...Team Captain in 2012 and 2013...2012 and 2013 Academic All-American...2012 and 2013 SOL All-League First Team...2011 SOL All-League Honorable Mention...2010 SOL All-League Third Team...Named Rookie of the Year in 2010...2012 and 2013 Bucks County Golden Team member...Team MVP in 2012 and 2013...Named Unsung Heroine in 2011...Member of the National Honor Society for Spanish, Math, Science, Music and English...also played volleyball for two seasons.

Maggie Carver, Midfield, (Ridgewood/Ridgewood, N.J.): Senior captain in lacrosse...2013 MSG All-New Jersey State First Team...2013 All-County First Team...2013 All-League First Team...2013 All-Suburban First Team...All-North Jersey First Team...was named Most Valuable Attacker on her team...also participated in basketball...senior captain...2013 Big North All-League Second Team...Made honor roll all four years.

Amanda Case, Defense/Midfield, (Haverford/Havertown, Pa.): Four-year letter winner in lacrosse and soccer...Co-Captain in both sports her junior and senior year...named Team MVP in 2013...2013 All-Delaware County First Team, All-Main Line First Team and All-Central League First team...2012 All-Delaware, Main Line, and Central League Second Team...2013 Ethel David Award winner for Most Outstanding Female Athlete at Haverford HS...National Honor Society member for three years...2012 US Lacrosse Academic All-American...made honor roll during all four years.

Devin Lawler, Attack, (Summit/Summit, N.J.): Member of Summit's New Jersey's Group II and Union County championship squad...was named New Jersey Senior All-Star...Was All-Conference and All-Union County First Team in cross-country...graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Caroline Ponsi, Attack, (St. Paul's School for Girls/Lutherville, Md.): Three-year letter winner in lacrosse and cross country...was captain of cross country team her sophomore and junior year...2011 and 2012 Team MVP...2011 IAAM Conference All-Star...2nd place finish in IAAM Conference Championships in 2011...National Spanish Honor Society member.

Charlotte Rath, Defense/Midfield, (Archmere Academy/Greenville, Del.): Four-year letter winner in lacrosse, swimming and volleyball...2013 team captain in lacrosse...2013 First Team All-State...2011-2013 Diamond Conference First Team...was named Most Valuable Senior in swimming...2012 and 2013 team captain...2012 and 2013 State Finalist in backstroke and freestyle...2011 State Finalist in volleyball.

Ashley Tedesco, Attack, (Friends' Central/Havertown, Pa.): Four-year letter winner in lacrosse...team captain for three seasons...All-Time Leading Scorer at Friend's Central...named 2013 Team MVP...All-Friend's League all four years...All-Main-Line First Team...All-Main Line Honorable Mention...All-Main Line Second Team twice...participated in soccer.

Alexis Thompson, Attack, (Huntington/Huntington, N.J.): Four-year letter winner in lacrosse...team captain in 2013...Named to All-Division, Conference, and County teams...Academic All-American...winner of the Alumni Award...three-year letter winner in soccer...named team captain...Scholar Athlete for all four years.

Kirsten Wilhelmsen, Midfield, (Strath Haven/Wallingford, Pa.): Four-year varsity letter winner in lacrosse and soccer...served as captain during her senior year in both sports...named Team MVP for both sports...First Team All-Delco and All-Central League for both sports... 2013 All-American and Academic All-American winner in lacrosse...All-Philadelphia Team in lacrosse...was named Top Female Scholar Athlete...National Honor Society member.
