Cabrey and Godfrey Recognized by LVAIAW
May 24, 2012EASTON, Pa. - A pair of student-athletes, Carolyn Cabrey and Addie Godfrey, have been honored by the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women for their efforts during the 2011-12 athletic season.
Lafayette, Lehigh, Cedar Crest, DeSales, Kutztown, Moravian and Muhlenberg are each eligible to nominate players for the Outstanding Athlete by Sport and Outstanding Athlete by Institution awards.
Cabrey, who was also chosen as Lafayette's Charles L. Albert '08 Award winner, was named the 2012 LVAIAW Outstanding Field Hockey Athlete after helping Lafayette claim the Patriot League Championship this past fall. A senior midfielder from North Wales, Pa., Cabrey recently graduated with a degree in Biology and was also selected by the organization as Lafayette's Outstanding Athlete.
A midfielder on the lacrosse team, Godfrey took Outstanding Lacrosse Athlete accolades following her junior season in which she scored 59 goals. The Princeton, N.J. native helped the Maroon and White to their highest win total since 2002 and was named to the First Team All-Patriot League.
The duo joins an impressive group of Leopard student-athletes who have been recognized by the organization in the past. Current field hockey assistant coach Jennifer Stone '04, assistant lacrosse coach Kristin Ruminski '09 and head lacrosse coach Alison Fisher '01 each appear on the list.
"It's a great honor for both Carolyn and Addie to be recognized by the LVAIAW," Stone said. "It's an organization with a rich history, recognizing the athletic accomplishments of young women throughout the Lehigh Valley. Congratulations to them both."
"The LVAIAW does a tremendous job promoting the accomplishments of the talented athletes in our area," Fisher added. "Addie had an outstanding year, leading our team to our best season in a decade. Carolyn led her team to a league championship and an impressive performance in the NCAA play-in. I am thrilled for them both that people outside of our athletic department recognize just how exceptional they truly are in their respective sports."
