Game Preview The Lafayette women's lacrosse team travels to Annapolis to take on Navy on Friday evening in Patriot League Tournament action. The Leopards defeated Colgate in a play-in scenario in the final game of the regular season to secure the fourth and final spot in the Patriot League Tournament. Lafayette enters the semifinals at 9-8 overall and 3-3 in League play. The game will be available live on GoLeopards.com on Friday at 5 p.m.
Scouting the Mids Navy finished first in the Patriot League regular season with a final record of 6-0 in the League and 16-1 overall. The Mids are ranked 15th in the IWLCA Coaches Poll and 12th in the deBeer Women's Media Poll. Senior attack and Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year Jasmine DePompeo powers the Navy offense, leading the team in goals (53), assists (61) and points (114). The senior leads the Patriot League in assists and points. Loren Generi finished the regular season as the Patriot League's leading goal scorer with 55 goals. Aimee Gennaro finished fourth in goals per game with 3.06 per game and 52 total goals. Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year Annie Foky stands between the pipes for the Mids. The sophomore boasts a 14-1 record with a 7.16 goals against average and 88 saves.
At the Helm The Leopards are coached by Alison Fisher, who is in her fifth season at Lafayette, holding an overall record of 26-56. Navy is coached by Patriot League Coach of the Year Cindy Timchal who carries a 92-23 record at Navy and a 428-109 career record in 31 seasons. All-Time Series The Leopards will be looking for their first win over Navy this Saturday, as the Mids have taken every game in the series dating back to 2008.
Leopards on the Attack The Lafayette attack is led by senior Addie Godfrey who, as of the last NCAA Statistics Report on April 21, ranks 11th in the nation in goals (50) and 13th in goals per game (3.13). Junior midfielder Ana White leads the Leopards and is 21st in the nation with 64 points. The junior is second on the team in goals (44). Junior Laura Kleiber has 36 goals and six assists, while senior Jessica Rothstein has tallied 26 goals and 33 points. Freshman Carlianne McCabe (15) and senior captain Cammie Linville (12) have each netted double-digit goals this season.
Defensive Stand White, junior defender Rachel Martin and senior defender Caitlin Mitchell are leading the team in ground balls with 44, 28 and 26, respectively. White leads the team in caused turnovers with 32 and holds the Patriot League career draw control record with 293 in just three years on College Hill.
Between the Pipes Junior Meghan Curtin has played every game this season for the Leopards making 12 starts. The Lafayette Hill, Pa. native has a 12.67 goals against average, while making 71 saves on her way to a 6-5 record. Sophomore Mimi Connell has made five starts and appeared in 11 games, making her first start of the season against Temple. Connell holds a 13.64 goals against average with 37 saves with a 3-3 record.
Around the Patriot League Navy clinched the top seed in the tournament on Sunday, defeating second-seeded American, 11-10. Holy Cross beat Lehigh, 14-6, on Friday night to lock up the third seed.
