Game Preview

Lafayette takes on Patriot League newcomer Loyola on Saturday afternoon. The Leopards hold a 3-4 mark overall and are 0-1 in the Patriot League, falling to Navy in their League opener last weekend. This marks Loyola’s first conference contest of the after going 3-4 in non-league games.

Last Time Out

The Leopards fell on Wednesday night to visiting Bryant in non-league action, 18-12. Lafayette was led by Ana White’s four goals and two assists. Charlotte Avallone and Laura Kleiber each chipped in three goals in the loss.

Scouting the Greyhounds

Marlee Paton and Annie Thomas lead the Loyola attack with 19 points. Paton has scored 12 goals and has seven assists, while Thomas has a team-high nine assists and 10 goals. Taryn VanThof and Hannah Schmitt lead the team in scoring with 13 apiece. VanThof has a team-high 17 ground balls and 27 draw controls and is tied for the team lead with Paton with 10 caused turnovers. Between the pipes for the Greyhounds, Molly Wolf has started all seven games and holds a 10.36 goals against average and a .462 save percentage.

Coaching Matchup

Lafayette alum Alison Fisher leads the Leopards in her sixth season. She is 29-63 in her career. Jen Adams is in her sixth season in charge of the Greyhounds. She holds a 67-35 record.

All-Time Series

Loyola holds an 8-6 advantage in the all-time series. Today’s meeting marks the first matchup between the two schools since 1995.

Leopards on the Attack

Senior Ana White leads the Lafayette attack with 23 points, followed by Laura Kleiber’s 21 points. Klieber leads the team with 18 goals, while White has a team-high seven assists and 23 draw controls to go along with 16 goals. Sophomore Charlotte Avallone has contributed 12 points coming on 10 goals and two assists.

Defensive Stand

White leads the team in ground balls (18) and caused turnovers (17), while Meghan Curtin has scooped up 13 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Between the Pipes

Curtin has played every minute in goal for the Maroon and White. She has holds a 9.71 goals-against average and has made 47 saves this season for a .409 save percentage.

Youth Movement

Charlotte Rath and Maggie Carver have started all seven contests on defense. Rath has corralled 12 ground balls while forcing nine turnovers. Carver has seven ground balls and five caused turnovers. Offensively, Kirsten Wilhelmsen sits fourth on the team with 11 points on nine goals and two assists. Amanda Case, the Patriot League Rookie of the Week Feb. 25, has buried eight goals this season, while Alexis Thompson has made six starts for the Maroon and White and has scored a pair of goals.

Patriot League play continues today as Lehigh visits Colgate, Bucknell hosts Navy and American travels to Holy Cross. On Wednesday, the Mids square off at AU, the Terriers host the Crusaders, the Bison entertain the Greyhounds and the Leopards visit the Mountain Hawks.
