EASTON, Pa . - The Lafayette women's lacrosse program defeated Bucknell 12-9 on Wednesday night to win their second straight Patriot League contest. A 7-2 Leopards run that spanned over 30 minutes of action gave Lafayette the two-goal edge at 8-6 and the Maroon & White never looked back.

Amanda Case and Laura Kleiber provided the offense for the Leopards (6-9, 2-5) on the night as the pair combined for nine of the Maroon & White's 12 goals. Kirsten Wilhelmsen added two goals and an assist for Lafayette while Ana White netted a lone tally. White and Wilhelmsen caused four turnovers each to lead the Leopards defense. White also had a team-high six draw controls while Wilhelmsen corralled a team-best five groundballs.

For Bucknell (3-11, 2-5), Madison Molinari, Katelyn Miller, Sophie Kleinert and Sam Rickels all registered two goals to pace the Bison attack. Elizabeth Duswalt and Miller both collected three groundballs while Lucia Smircich, Rickels, and Miller forced a team-best two turnovers.

Meghan Curtin improved to 6-9 on the season, making seven saves in the win. Duswalt of Bucknell stopped nine shots in the losing effort. She fell to 3-11 on the year.

Lafayette fell behind in the first half 2-0 before White put the Maroon & White on the board at 17:38 in the first half. The Bison added two more goals to go in front 4-1 just over the midway mark in the opening period. The Leopards responded with a 7-2 run that spanned over 30 minutes of play that included three tallies from Case and two goals from Wilhelmsen and Kleiber, to take the 8-6 lead with 19:04 to go in regular. The run proved to be too much for the Bison.

Bucknell was able to cut the deficit to 9-8 with just over 10 minutes left to play before Kleiber netted back-to-back goals 1:12 apart. Case followed with her fifth goal of the game that pushed the Leopards lead to 12-8 with 6:02 showing on the clock. Lafayette's defense held strong for the remaining six minutes, allowing a lone Bison tally in the final minute of action for the 12-9 margin.

The Leopards return to action this Saturday as they host Colgate in a Patriot League matchup. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
