EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette field hockey junior Brittany Blass was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Mideast Region Second Team, the NFHCA announced Tuesday. Blass earned a spot on the team for the second consecutive year.

“Brittany has had such an impact on the program since starting her freshmen year. This year, she was once again a pivotal piece to not only the defense, but the team in general.” coach Jennifer Stone said. “Her defending ranked her amongst some of the best in the country, and I'm happy that she was recognized as a Regional All-American because of that. Brittany is an incredible player, and extremely deserving of another post-season accolade.”

Blass led the Leopards with five goals and thirteen points including two game-winners, while anchoring the Lafayette defense. The Leopards finished the season 6-12, falling in the Patriot League Semifinals to eventual league champion, American, 2-1 in overtime. Blass is one of six Leopard starters who will return in 2014.
