What do you enjoy about your major?
I enjoy my major because it is very hands-on. A lot of non-science majors probably hate the thought of labs but, over the past two years, I have enjoyed them because I learn so much in my lab classes. I also enjoy the diversity of classes that are offered and required. Having to take classes in the different disciplines of Biology (anatomy and physiology, ecology, and development/genetics) has given me a wider knowledge base that I am sure will come in handy no matter what I decide to do after Lafayette.

One class that every Lafayette student should try to take is...
I would say Human Physiology with Doc Holliday, but he is retiring! Really any class with him would be extremely interesting, so I am glad that I had that opportunity and took the challenge. If I had to pick another class, then I would say every student should try and take a class outside of their major. We are required to take electives, but I think they are really important. I personally wish I knew more about history, so I guess I would take a history class if I could.

What has been your most unique academic experience at Lafayette?
My most unique academic experience is the research I get to do in Dr. Rothenberger's lab. We are doing water quality research in the Raritan Bay, which is located between New York and New Jersey. Although lab research can be "work" sometimes, I think ours is fun because I personally like to be physically active and field research is perfect for that. Our lab is like a family- we all help each other whenever it is needed. Dr. Rothenberger also pushes me to do my best work. I think that is definitely a unique experience coming from a professor; it means she cares that I reach my potential and you do not always find that quality in professors at larger schools who have hundreds of students.

Do you have any post-graduation plans?
I am planning on going to graduate school for a year (hoping to get a graduate assistant position for field hockey) and then applying to medical school at this time next year. But who knows where I will be? I guess I want to keep my options open if anything exciting pops up. Playing abroad has always been on my mind.

What goals did the field hockey team set at the beginning of the season?
Winning the Patriot League has been our goal every year since I have been here, but I think now more than ever we are vying for that title and to make an appearance at NCAAs.

As a co-captain, what leadership roles have you assumed?
Having four captains is different than the norm but it's nice at times because we can all share the different responsibilities. I think my role is mainly on the field - making sure as a team we are organized and playing our best.

What reality show would you have the best chance of winning?
"The Price Is Right"... the best game show ever.

What song/band/album is most likely to be playing on your iPod?
Valencia

What movie can you quote word-for-word?
"Finding Nemo" (with Hanna Sotiropoulos)

Who is most famous person you have ever met?
Gavin DeGraw

Celebrity Doppelganger: Laura Robson (English tennis player)
Signature Dance Move: I leave the dancing to Emily Valeo
Team-Given Nickname: Carr
Favorite Cartoon Character: Doug Funnie
Words to Live By: "Get better."
