EASTON, Pa. - Emily Valeo was one of 11 players named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team announced by the League on Wednesday. The award comes a day after Valeo earned First-Team All-Patriot League accolades.

“Emily has worked extremely hard at her academics and her hockey skills,” head coach Andrew Griffiths said. “It is no surprise that she excels in both areas.”

In the classroom, Valeo has a 3.69 overall grade-point average as an English major.  She is a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection and recorded a 3.75 GPA in the spring semester.

A junior from Norristown, Pa., Valeo was named Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 26 - Oct. 2 and picked up her second All-Patriot League accolade after being named to the Second Team last season. She ranks third on the team with 15 points and is tied with Deanna DiCroce for the Patriot League lead with seven assists.

The 2011 Patriot League Field Hockey Tournament will be played this weekend, beginning with Friday’s semifinals as No. 4 Bucknell plays No. 1 American at 11 a.m. and No. 3 Lehigh takes on No. 2 Lafayette at 2 p.m. The winners meet for the Patriot League Championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. The event will be held at American’s Reeves Field and will be streamed live on goleopards.com/allaccess
