Oct. 31, 2007
EASTON, Pa. - Junior captain Maggie Condon and freshman Meghan Cicchi have been named to the All-Patriot First-Team in field hockey. Senior captain Laura Fabian and junior Jaclyn DiSanti received All-Patriot League Second-Team laurels.
Condon, the team leader in points (23) with nine goals and five assists, earned All-PL First-Team for the second straight time in her career. Scoring at least one point in each of the last five games, the Lake Bluff, Ill. native scored the game-winning goal in overtime at Colgate (10/20). The Economics & Business major leads the league in shots (18) and is fourth with nine points against conference opponents.
"These individual honors are well deserved and they are a result of hard work on the training field," said head coach Andrew Griffiths. "I am thrilled for Cicchi because she is an exemplary scholar-athlete."
The only freshman to receive first or second team honors, Cicchi has stepped seamlessly into a starting position with the Lafayette defense in her rookie season. The Chemistry major was honored with two Patriot League weekly laurels this season, Rookie of the Week (9/10) and Defensive Player of the Week (10/22).
Receiving her second consecutive all-league honor, Fabian concludes her Lafayette career with second-team honors. The Whitehall, Pa. native has registered seven points for the Leopards this season. With three goals and one assist, Chemistry and Government & Law dual major is tied for second on the team in points (7).
The Leopards continue the season in Washington, D.C. as the third seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The No. 2 seed Lafayette will face rival Lehigh, the No. 2 seed, on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
