EASTON, Pa.- Senior co-captain Deanna DiCroce was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, the league announced Monday.
DiCroce led the Leopards to two wins at home this past week as they took care of Penn on Wednesday, 5-2, and Colgate in their Patriot League home opener on Saturday, 6-1. She recorded a goal and two assists against Penn and two goals in the second half versus Colgate.
"Deanna has really turned up her play in the past couple of weeks," head coach Andrew Griffiths said. "She has been passing well, defending well and scoring."
Leading the squad with senior co-captain Emily Valeo, DiCroce and No. 13 Lafayette have won eight games in a row and sit atop the Patriot League standings. DiCroce leads the league in goals (8) and points (25) and sits 11th in the nation in points per game (2.27). She entered the Patriot League career top 10 in goals (43, ninth) during the week, and stands sixth in all-time points (123) and fifth in career assists (37).
Extending her career record to nine Offensive Player of the Week honors, she now has three more than any other student-athlete in Patriot League history.
DiCroce and the Leopards will try to extend their winning streak on Saturday as Bucknell travels to Rappolt Field in a battle for first place in the League standings. A rematch of the 2011 Patriot League championship game, the contest will be broadcast live on GoLeopards.com and is scheduled to get underway at noon.
