EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette field hockey team has added a new member to its support staff as Lauren Powley, a midfielder for the 2008 US Field Hockey Olympic Squad, will take on the role of Director of Technical Development.

“Although she will not be working directly with the players, she will bring a wealth of experience to the team,” head coach Andrew Griffiths said. “Lauren will be a great addition to our staff.”

Powley will be helping by developing drills, training ideas and strategies to improve training and on-field performance. She will attend all practices and games, as well as observe game film, and provide feedback to the coaching staff.

Powley played collegiate field hockey at the University of Maryland, where she won two national championships in 2005 and 2006 and played under Griffiths in 2005, an assistant coach for the Terps at the time. Griffiths also coached Powley on the US under-21 national team.

A Mountain Top, Pa. native, Powley earned her degree from Maryland in 2006 with a degree in Kinesiology.
