EASTON, Pa.- The 2011 Patriot League Champion Lafayette field hockey team returned to College Hill on Thursday for the start of preseason camp. Meetings are scheduled for Thursday while the first practice will take place at 9 a.m. Friday at Rappolt Field. Additional practices and workouts will be held daily, leading up to the team's season opener against Ball State.

Prior to opening the season on Aug. 26, the Leopards will travel to Monmouth on Aug. 17 at 12 p.m. for the first of two scrimmages. Their second scrimmage will be at home against Syracuse on Aug. 21 at 4 p.m.

Lafayette finished with an overall record of 11-9 last year and captured its first Patriot League Championship since 2002. This year, Andrew Griffiths' squad has aspirations of winning another League title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament, after falling in overtime to Ohio in the NCAA play-in game last season. Lafayette lost two starters to graduation, but welcomes six freshmen to the team in 2012.

The 2012 Patriot League field hockey preseason poll, the League's inaugural Preseason All-Patriot League Team and Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year will be announced the week of Aug. 20.
