$1.2 Million Rappolt Field Renovation Underway
June 12, 2014
EASTON, Pa. - A $1.2 million renovation is underway at Rappolt Field, the home of Lafayette field hockey.
The improvements include the complete replacement of the playing surface, which was installed in 2000 when the facility opened, and the addition of a permanent irrigation system. Rappolt Field’s new playing surface will be Astroturf 12, the company’s latest product designed specifically for field hockey.
“Through the support of the College and our generous donors, we will open this preseason with a state-of-the-art turf and irrigation system,” said Director of Athletics Bruce McCutcheon. “We are committed to providing an environment of excellence for our student-athletes to grow and develop as athletes and as students. This enhancement further helps us to meet this goal."
The firm of Clough, Harbour and Associates designed the project and is serving as the project manager. The replacement work is being done by the Sports Contracting Group with a scheduled completion date of Aug. 1.
“It's a very exciting time for the program as we move forward with the renovation and enhancements at Rappolt Field for the fall of 2014,” said Lafayette head field hockey coach Jennifer Stone. “Our program is grateful for the generosity of donors and supporters who were able to help provide this new top quality facility for our team.”
