Field Hockey Earns National Academic Honor

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette field hockey team was one of 66 schools to be named on the 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award list, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that have achieved a Team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.
Six student-athletes from the field hockey team were also named to the 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. To be recognized, individuals must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year. Seniors Kristin Heaney and Haley Keenan and junior Jenna Seybert were named to the Division I National Academic Squad.
In addition to being named to the National Academic Squad, freshman Katelyn Arnold and Aliza Furneaux boasted a team-best 4.0 GPA in the fall semester to earn a spot on the Scholars of Distinction, the NFHCA announced on Thursday. Joining them on the list was classmate Casey White, who finished the fall semester with a 3.93 GPA. To be honored as Scholars of Distinction, student-athletes have to hold a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of 2013-14.
Lafayette fell to eventual Patriot League Champion American in the Patriot League Semifinals in the fall.
