Field Hockey Inks Five to Class of 2018

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette field hockey head coach Jennifer Stone has signed five student-athletes to the class of 2018, it was announced Wednesday. Three of the five members come from Pennsylvania, while the final two hail from Canada and Scotland.

“We are very excited to welcome the class of 2018 to the Lafayette Field Hockey Program.” Coach Stone said. “This talented group of individuals has made their mark on international and domestic settings, both on the field, and in the classroom. The team and coaching staff are thrilled to welcome Ellen, Cody, Meg, Christie, Rosie and their families into our hockey community.”

Ellen Colbourne (New Westminster, British Columbia/ New Westminster Secondary) Plans to major in Economics: Served as captain for four years…four-time league MVP…took part in four Canadian National championships, won a gold and two bronze medals…named to the U18 All-Star Team at Nationals…four year honor roll…International Baccalaureate Diploma recipient…received the R.A MacDonald Scholarship…awarded Lord Tweedsmuir PAC Bursary…served as committee member of the Honor Society.
Personal: Daughter of Jackie and Stewart Colbourne…has an older brother Oliver…born 5/28/95.

Cody Hunsicker (Myerstown, Pa./Tulpehocken) Plans to major in Chemistry: four year letterwinner…scored 19 goals and dished out 14 assists…served as co-captain for three years…honorable mention Berks County as a freshman…All-Division Berks County and All-State Honorable Mention as a sophomore…All-Berks County, Division III MVP Berks County, All-State Second Team as a junior…All-Division Berks County, Honorable Mention All-State as a senior… four year honor roll student…co-chair of the Blood Drive Committee…treasurer of the Community Service Club…member of the National Honor Society…took part in Tulpehocken’s STAR Program.
Personal: Daughter of Christine and Bruce Hunsicker…has two older siblings Casey and Kelsey…born 5/6/96.

Meg Lillis (Reading, Pa./Wilson) Plans to major in Economics: Lillis was a three year letterwinner in her four year high school career…served as team captain…tabbed to National Field Hockey Coaches Association All State/American Academic Squad…named Berks All-County…selected to Second Team All-State…participated in swimming as a freshman and sophomore…played defense in lacrosse as a junior and senior…high honor roll student…top 10 percent in her class…received the AP Scholar Award…member of the World Languages Honor Society…Vice President of the National Honors Society…member of the Interact Club.
Personal: Daughter of Lori and James Lillis…has an older brother Matthew and older sister Kelsey…born 10/13/95.

Christie Schlarbaum (Newtown Square, Pa./Episcopal Academy) Plans to major in Biology: Three-time letterwinner…played on the WC Eagles club for five years…took part in the National Field Hockey Festival three times…played in the Disney Field Hockey Showcase twice…four time NIT participant…made one appearance in the National Club Championship…member of the National Spanish Honors Society…named an AP Scholar…earned two silver medals on the National Spanish Exam…graduating with honors in all four years.
Personal: Daughter of Janet Cauley and Mark Schlarbaum…has an older sister, Danielle, and a younger brother Mike…born 3/18/96.

Rosie Shanks (Glasgow, Scotland/Craigholme School) Plans to major in Economics: Received full school colors three times for services to sport…has played for the Clydesdale Western Ladies Hockey Squad since 2009…selected as captain for under 14 West District mixed team for the Inter District Tournament…one of Clydesdale Western’s top 10 lady players highest scorers with 23 goals, named Player of the Match by opposing team numerous times as a 13 year old…chosen for the South West District under 15 girls team, finishing third in the Inter-District Tournament in third…tabbed to the Scotland under 18 National Training Squad…played against England on the under 18 National Training Squad …played for former British Olympian Wendy Justice.
