Field Hockey Places Nine on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

EASTON, Pa. - Nine student-athletes from the 2011 Patriot League Champion Lafayette field hockey team were selected to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, announced by the League on Tuesday. The group represents all four classes and seven different academic majors.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade-point average of 3.20 or higher in the fall semester and participate in one the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.

Lafayette's two seniors, Carolyn Cabrey and Colleen McGowan, made the list along with four juniors, one sophomore and two freshmen. Cabrey was named the Patriot League Tournament Most Valuable Player in addition to being a First Team All-Patriot League selection.

Junior Emily Valeo, a Patriot League All-Academic Team selection, led the junior class with her 3.68 semester GPA. Valeo was also a First Team All-Patriot League choice and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Squad.
