Oct. 3, 2004
WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior Missy Farrand scored the first of her two goals just 57 seconds into the match, freshman Virginia Satterthwaite notched a goal and an assist, and sophomore Jill Lambert posted her first career shutout in goal as Lafayette defeated Georgetown, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Amanda Eggleston assisted on Farrand's first goal which put Lafayette ahead early, and Farrand assisted on Satterthwaite's goal to give the Leopards a 2-0 lead less than five minutes later.
Lambert made five saves in goal to earn Lafayette's first shutout victory of the season. Four of those saves came in the second half, when Georgetown (2-9) fired 10 shots but was unable to find the cage.
Farrand's final goal came with 13 minutes left in the match and was assisted by senior Emily James. Farrand has three career two-goal games, with the others coming last season against Penn State and Cornell.
Lafayette (3-7, 0-1 PL) snapped a six-match losing stretch which included three losses by one goal.
The team will look to build momentum heading into its Patriot League schedule, but will have to wait until Saturday, Oct. 9 when Colgate comes to the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex. The Leopards will host the Orange of Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 10. Both matches will start at 1 p.m.
