Easton, Pa. - Lafayette shuts out Quinnipiac, 2-0, in Lafayette College Invitational Sunday afternoon at Rappolt Field.

The Leopards started off early with a goal 2:02 into the first half by freshman Deanna DiCroce, assisted by Kelly Hilovsky off a penalty corner bringing Lafayette to a 1-0 lead early in the game.

Lafayette's defense held Quinnipiac not allowing any goals during the game. Early in the second half senior Lindsay Majno found the back of the goal, assisted by freshman Emily Valeo to bring the Leopards to a 2-0 lead. This is the fourth shutout game for the Leopards defense this season.

The Bobcats had a total of nine shots and 11 saves by goalkeeper Jenna Grossman during the game, while the Leopards had 23 shots and six saves. Lafayette had an impressive 12 penalty corners, while Quinnipiac had only two and never converted to goals.

"This was a strong way to end the week. Having three wins during the week really makes the girls pumped up," head coach Andrew Griffiths said after the game. "In the beginning we had trouble getting the press but everyone stepped up and we were able to pull through. I am very pleased with our defense having yet another shutout of the season."

The Leopards take a break during the week and head to West Long Branch, N.J. to take on the Monmouth Hawks Saturday, Sept .26 at 12 p.m. on So Sweet a Cat Field.
