EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette field hockey team lost, 8-0, to No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday afternoon in Newark, Del. The Leopards fell to 1-3 with the loss, while UNC improved to 5-0 on the year.

North Carolina's Samantha Travers scored a hat-trick, finding the back of the cage twice in the first half. Jaclyn Gaudioso Radvany added two goals for Carolina in the win.

Freshmen Jessica Deutsch made her first collegiate start in the cage for Lafayette, turning away eight North Carolina shots. Mara Kish came into the game in relief of Deutsch at the 50:41 mark, making two saves and allowing a goal.

The Tar Heels outshot Lafayette 28-4 and doubled up the Leopards in penalty corners, 14-7.

Brittany Blass recorded three shots in the game, while Jenna Seybert registered one.

The Leopards continue their three game road swing on Sept. 14, when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the University of Pennsylvania. The contest is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
