Philadelphia, Pa. - The Leopards field hockey team (record: 1-2) defeated Drexel Saturday afternoon, 2-0, recording its first win of the season. Senior Courtney Dixon made three saves to record her first collegiate shutout.

The Maroon and White scored three minutes into the second half when sophomore Anna DePetris redirected a pass from classmate Kelly Hilovsky. A mere 41-seconds later, sophomore Alison Schoch centered a pass to senior Laura Fabian who put it past goalie Colleen McAndrew.

The Leopard defense held Drexel scoreless despite the Dragon's five shots in the second half. Dixon help secure the shutout and the Lafayette victory by intercepting Christina Mastropaolo pass to Emily Horvat with five minutes left in the game.

"We moved the ball and our players better today and this helped create some good scoring chances. Now we have a quick turnaround for another tough game tomorrow against Quinnipiac," said head coach Andrew Griffiths.

Lafayette now has a 1-2 record going into tomorrow's 1 p.m. match against Quinnipiac on Rappolt Field.
