EASTON, Pa.- The Leopards weren't able to overcome a two-goal halftime deficit, as they fell to the No. 13 Iowa Hawkeyes, 3-0, in Lafayette's season opener. The Leopards drop to 0-1 on the season, while the Hawkeyes improved to 2-0.

Iowa struck ten minutes into the game on a penalty stroke from Karli Johnson. Johnson was taken down in the circle and convert from the penalty spot. Three minutes later the Hawkeyes struck again on a goal by Kelsey Mitchell. Natalie Cafone took the ball down the end line and found Mitchell in front of the cage for the score.

Iowa added one more in the second half when Stephanie Norlander finished a cross from Brynn Gitt with 22 minutes left to play.

Junior Jessica Deutsch made four saves for the Leopards in the loss, while Iowa's Kelsey Boyce stopped four shots to earn the win. The teams each fired 10 shots and had six penalty corners a piece.

The Leopards are back in action this Saturday when they take on Central Michigan at Drexel University, followed by a game at Delaware on Sunday.
