Leopards Down Temple In Season Opener
Aug. 28, 2005
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior midfielder Amanda Eggleston set the tone early, scoring just over four minutes into Lafayette field hockey's 2-1 victory over Temple in the team's season opener Sunday afternoon at Geasey Field. The Leopards made the most of their opportunities on offense, netting their two goals on four total shots. The Leopards did not give up the shutout until late in the game, as Temple's Megan Hannahoe scored on a corner at the 68:48 mark. Eggleston scored on a pass from classmate and fellow captain Kasey Gallagher, while senior midfielder Jenna Bratz got past Temple goalkeeper Erin Hanshue at the 24:30 mark, adding some insurance for the Leopards heading into halftime. Lafayette junior keeper Jill Lambert earned the win in the cage, tallying 14 saves. The Leopards now stand at 1-0 on the season, while Temple evened its record at 1-1.
Lafayette returns to action Sunday, Sept. 4 at 1:00 as the team hosts Cornell in its home opener at Rappolt Field.
