Freeland Tabbed as Rookie of the Week
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Freshman guard Drew Freeland was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Freeland led the Leopards to an 18-point victory over Wagner in their final non-conference matchup of the season. The 5-8 guard dropped a career-high 17 points against the Seahawks, spurring Lafayette’s offense to a season-best 70 points. Freeland was strong from behind the arc, going 3-for-4 from deep. This is the first time Freeland has been honored by the Patriot League.
Fellow rookie Natalie Kucowski was named as an Honorable Mention by the league office for her efforts in the win over Wagner. The Philadelphia, Pa. native recorded her fourth career double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds.
The Leopards kick-off league play this Friday when they make the short trek to Bethlehem to take on Lehigh. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
