Kucowski Tabbed as PL Rookie of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Lafayette women’s basketball’s Natalie Kucowski was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Kucowski shined in the first two games of her career as a Leopard, averaging 16.5 ppg and 12.5 rpg over the Maroon and White’s two first games against La Salle and St. Peter’s.

In the season opener against the Explorers, Kucowski finished second on the team with 13 points in 28 minutes of action. She ended tied for the team lead with six boards and shot 50 percent from the floor.

This past Sunday against the Peacocks, Kucowski turned in a memorable performance, leading the Maroon and White’s comeback charge. The Philadelphia, Pa. native recorded her first career double-double, finishing with a game-high 20 points and 19 rebounds. Kucowski earned the offense plenty of second chances, hauling in 12 of her boards on the offensive end while also chipping in on defense with two steals.

Kucowski and the Leopards are back in action on Saturday when they head to Philadelphia to take on Penn at 5 p.m.
