Damon Adds Four to Class of 2022

Nov. 8, 2017

EASTON, Pa. -- Lafayette head women's basketball coach Kia Damon announced four additions to her class of 2022 for the early signing period Wednesday afternoon.

Damon's first class is a reflection of the change she is instilling in the program as she has inked four talented players that will join the Leopards next fall.

So far, the class features three student-athletes from three different states and one from north of the border. Nicole Johnson is an East Burnswick, N.J. native, while Makaila Wilson joins the Leopards from New York (Fairport). Jiselle Havas is heading to College Hill from Windermere, Fla. and Naomi Ganpo is a native of Canada (Brampton, Ont.).

Johnson is in her fourth year as a varsity starter at East Brunswick High School. The 5-6 guard helped guide her team to county championship in her sophomore season along with receiving All-County Third-Team recognition. Her junior year saw the point guard earn First-Team All-County and Division recognition for her efforts. Johnson will bring slick passing skills to College Hill after averaging five assists per game through her career.

Wilson will add some length to the Maroon and White's backcourt when the 6-0 guard takes the court next season. Wilson is in her fifth season as a member of the varsity squad at Penfield. The scoring guard has upped her scoring average every year after becoming a starter her freshman season, averaging 19 points per game in her junior season. She was named the Monroe County Player of the Year after leading her team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks

Havas adds more depth to the Leopards backcourt rotation for next season. The Windermere, Fla. native served as a three-year captain for Lake Highland Prep, helping to guide the team to four district championships and two state championships. The 5-10 guard has 887 points to her name and averaged 13.9 ppg and 2.0 steals per game last season.

Ganpo will bring size to the Maroon and White's frontcourt next season as the 6-3 forward heads to College Hill from Brampton, Ont. Ganpo enters her senior season as a four-year starter and averaged 20 ppg last season. She helped guide Bishop Macdonell to a Division 10 championship in 2017 after leading the team to second place finish.

The Lafayette women's basketball team is set to embark on its 2017-18 campaign this Friday when the Leopards welcome La Salle to Kirby Sports Center for a 7 p.m. contest.
