Aug. 20, 2012
EASTON, Pa.- Lafayette women’s basketball incoming freshman, Annette Snow, has been accepted to join the USA Open Women’s Basketball Team in the 19th Maccabiah Games.
The Maccabiah Games are held every four years in Israel and are sometimes referred to as the “Jewish Olympics,” hosting over 8,000 athletes from more than 60 countries. It is the third largest sporting event in the world.
Snow competed against the best Jewish female basketball players in the country in a grueling two-day tryout before being selected to the squad.
A swift, versatile wing player who tallied 1,043 points in her high school career, the Manalapan, N.J. native played two seasons at Freehold Township High School before transferring to Blair Academy, where she led her team to a 45-5 record and two state titles.
“Annette is a quick, athletic player who can get to the rim and score from the outside,” said head coach Dianne Nolan. “She is a strong defender and an all-around solid player.”
The Maccabiah Games will take place from July 17-20, 2013 in Israel.
