EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's basketball team held its annual year-end banquet on Sunday, April 13, celebrating its 2013-14 season and honoring its senior of Madeline Fahan, Danielle Fiacco, Kristan Liddle and Kelly Loughney.
The Leopards’ opened the campaign with four straight wins, including a 48-45 victory at Atlantic Coast foe Pittsburgh. During Patriot League play, Lafayette won four straight over Lehigh, Colgate, League-leading Navy and Bucknell. The Leopards finished the season with a 14-16 mark overall and an 8-10 record in the Patriot League, receiving a first round bye in the Patriot League Tournament.
During the season, Fiacco broke the Patriot League career blocked shots record, finishing her career with 364 swats. The senior scored her 1,000th career point against Army and holds Lafayette’s career rebound mark with 853 boards. Junior Emily Homan also scored her 1,000th career point this season at American and was recognized as an All-Patriot League second team performer, as well as an All-Patriot League Academic team selection.
A pair of team awards were presented at the banquet on Sunday evening: The Pat Fisher "Hold the Rope" Award and the Hannah Hart Inspiration Award.
The Pat Fisher "Hold the Rope" Award, named in honor of the legendary Lafayette women's basketball and softball coach, is presented to the player who exemplifies Coach Fisher's commitment to Lafayette women's basketball. As voted upon by her teammates, the award was presented to senior Kristan Liddle.
The Hannah Hart Inspiration Award, also awarded via a team vote, was presented to senior Danielle Fiacco. This award is presented annually to a women’s basketball player who exemplifies Hannah’s will to persevere through hardship with a positive spirit.
Lafayette is tentatively scheduled to open its 2014-15 campaign at Kirby Sports Center on Nov. 14 against Delaware.
