Athletes C.A.R.E. Holds Ball4Hunger Basketball Clinic
EASTON, Pa. -- Athletes C.A.R.E., a non-profit organization started by Lafayette student-athletes, held a Ball4Hunger Basketball Clinic at Kirby Sports Center this past weekend, collecting food/non-perishable items and monetary donations for the Nazareth Area Food Bank.
The Nazareth Area Food Bank has been providing food for families in the Nazareth, Pa. area for 25 years. Currently, approximately 250 families and individuals, a total numbering more than 300 people, including more than 100 children, are served monthly.
Hosted by the Lafayette men's and women's basketball teams, boys and girls between the ages of six and 13 were invited to join in a day of basketball-related activities. A full photo gallery of the day's events is available above.
Athletes C.A.R.E. is a non-profit organization engaging young people in the community to ignite activism, community service and shaping the next generation of leaders. It seeks to provide food, clothing, necessities, care and compassion to the needy, homeless and hungry. Its mission, however, is not limited to serving those groups, as it also wishes to take part in building new leaders in the community.
