McGorry '12 Takes Home National Superleague Cup
Jan. 29, 2013
EASTON, Pa. – Former Lafayette women’s basketball player Sarah McGorry ’12 and her teammates from the University of Limerick won the National Superleague Cup this past weekend in Dublin, Ireland.
McGorry entered the Limerick this past fall to pursue her Masters in Business as part of the Victory Scholars program. The Victory Scholarship, sponsored by non-profit organization Sport Changes Lives, is an opportunity to play and coach basketball while participating in a one-year, post-graduate program at an Irish or Northern Irish university.
McGorry, along with former men’s basketball player Jim Mower ’12, is also gaining work experience through internship programs mentored by successful businesses in the region.
Among the first group of women to earn the Victory Scholarship and the first to participate in the program in Limerick, McGorry and her teammates from the UL Huskies took down Team Montenotte Hotel Cork, which had handed them their only loss earlier in the season, 69-59, for the cup victory.
McGorry ranks eighth all-time in games played at Lafayette with 115.
