A veteran, 19 years old, battle scarred by a tough 10-month tour of duty with the U. S. Navy-in fact I was so tough in the fall of '47 that I begged to differ with Charley Gelbert, the freshman football coach. When he tried to cut me I told him that he could not tell if a guy could play football after one day in sweats.
