Maroon Club President Thanks Donors For Record-Breaking Year
Aug. 22, 2013
Maroon Club President Cynthia Oaks Linville '80 issued the following letter to Maroon Club members, thanking them for their support and outlining the many accomplishments from the 2012-13 fiscal year.
Dear Lafayette Maroon Club Supporters,
It has been a terrific year to be part of the Maroon Club and I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to serve as your President! As of June 30, 2013, the Maroon Club marked once again its highest fundraising year ever, raising $1,232,000 in gifts from 1,763 alumni, parents, and friends who supported the Maroon Club. This year marks the third consecutive year of breaking the one million dollar mark and represents an 8% increase in gifts for supplemental budget dollars over last year. It is remarkable to witness the commitment, loyalty and generous support that our alumni, parents and friends have towards providing our student-athletes with the best opportunities for them to achieve excellence in all areas.
This support and partnership is critical as we enter a new era of a stronger and more competitive Patriot League with the addition of Boston University and Loyola University.
As we look forward, the Maroon Club continues to be engaged in working with the Development Office providing annual dollars supplementing the operating budgets, establishing endowments for head coaching positions and raising money for merit based athletics scholarships in our team sports. Additionally, we remain steadfast in our commitment to provide our student-athletes and coaches with programs that support leadership and educational opportunities and to raise important dollars for sport-specific initiatives based on the annual needs of our 23 Division 1 athletic programs.
Thank you for your continued support of the Lafayette Maroon Club and your investment in our student-athletes. Your gifts make the Difference! We hope to see you on the sidelines in your Maroon and White cheering on our exceptional student-athletes as they compete for championship titles.
