O'Brien Lloyd was an eight-time All-East honoree during her four years on the women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams. She competed in multiple events, including hurdles, dash and relays, and was tabbed as the Most Valuable Player of the East Coast Conference (ECC) Outdoor meet from 1984-86.

Several of the school records O'Brien Lloyd set during her career still stand today. She is the current record holder in the 400 hurdles (59.10) and the 500 meter (1:14.34) events, and her 1986 time of 14.25 in the 100 meter hurdles is the second-best time in Lafayette history.

The teams on which O'Brien Lloyd competed were also highly successful. She was a member of six ECC Championship teams and was an individual champion in 24 events, including the mile relay, the 500 meter and 4x100 and 4x400 relays. O'Brien Lloyd also served as the team captain from 1986-87 and was a recipient of the Class of 1913 Award in 1987, presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.

Following graduation, O'Brien Lloyd joined Lafayette head coach Julio Piazza as an assistant coach for two years (1988-90) before moving to the Philadelphia area. She married former Lafayette baseball player Chip Lloyd '87 in 1991 and the couple has six children: Kathleen, C.J., Shannon, Thomas, Joshua, and Colleen.
