Three Members of Lafayette's Men's Cross Country Team Named to Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu)-- Lafayette cross country runner Kevin Penderghest, a junior Mathematics major, earned a perfect 4.00 to become one of 75 student-athletes named to the 2003 Patriot League Men's Cross Country Academic Honor roll for the Fall 2003 semester.

Also earning Honor Roll accolades for the Leopards was senior Tom Kennedy (3.50, Economics and Business) and freshman Edward Dutch (3.66, History/Government and Law).

American junior Pat MacAdie, the 2003 Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned a 3.46 grade-point average (GPA) during the fall semester, while seven other men's runners took home perfect 4.00 GPAs in the opening term.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the seven League-sponsored fall championship sports.

A total of 534 student-athletes were named to the League's Fall Academic Honor Roll, including 23 with 4.00 GPAs. The Fall Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.

Bucknell led the way with 117 candidates on the League's Fall Academic Honor Roll. On the Men's Cross Country Academic Honor Roll, the Bison earned top honors with 19 recipients, while American finished second with 15 selections.
