Lafayette Men Seventh At Cross Country Championships At Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Five Lafayette runners crossed the finish line in the Leopards seventh place finish at the Patriot League Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Army.
Sophomore Kevin Penderghest (Lindewood, N.J./Paul VI) led the pack of Leopards in a time of 28:23.61, good enough for 42nd place.
Freshman Nick Birosik (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua) finished on the heels of Penderghest in 44th place (28:29.36).
Junior Tom Kennedy (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and sophomore Matt Taverna (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) placed 45th and 46th respectively. Kennedy crossed the tape in 28:48.01, and Taverna completed the 8K run in 28:58.92.
Sophomore Colin McDonough's (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) 47th place finish (29:25) completed the Lafayette scoring at 224.
American University won the men's race with 28 points and Bucknell University's Bryan Johnston took home first place with a time of 25:43.18.
The Lafayette men return to action on Nov. 16 at the NCAA District Championships.
