Leopard Men's Tennis Claims Six on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's tennis team placed six student-athletes, the second-highest total in the league, on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for the spring 2006 semester.
Seniors Jeremy Fehrs (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) and Brett Warren (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) lead the Leopards' honorees. Fehrs, who posted a 3.47 grade-point average in English in his final semester, was 18-6 in doubles action last season and tied Lafayette's school record with 43 career doubles victories. Warren recorded a 3.66 GPA in Economics and Business and played 24 of his 27 matches at No. 2 singles as a senior. He was 15-12 overall in singles action and 12-8 in doubles while playing all five Patriot League matches at No. 2 with Brett Kraft, a fellow Academic Honor Roll selection.
Kraft (New Providence, N.J./New Providence), Alex Goergen (Allegany, N.Y./Allegany Central) and Paul Guarino (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephen's Episcopal) give the Leopards three sophomores on the Academic Honor Roll. Kraft competed primarily at fourth and fifth singles, compiling a 15-7 record, along with his doubles work with Warren. He had a 3.40 GPA in Anthropology and Sociology.
Guarino, an Economics and Business major who earned a 3.32 GPA, finished his second year at first singles and first doubles for the Leopards. He was 14-3 at No. 3 singles before moving to the top of the lineup by the end of Patriot League action, and was 14-7 at the top doubles pairing. Goergen landed a 3.65 GPA in Chemistry was 3-1 in singles last year and has a career record of 8-4.
Lee Kojanis wraps up the list with a 3.42 GPA in Biology as a freshman. He earned a 14-7 mark between fifth and sixth singles, and saw action at all three doubles spots while posting a 6-4 record.
Lafayette was 17-10 last season, setting a new school record for wins by the men's tennis program. The Leopards completed their fifth straight undefeated fall schedule to highlight the year as well.
