Lafayette Men's Tennis Players Earn Academic Accolades

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's tennis team continued its tradition of academic excellence by placing five student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for the Spring 2008 semester. Brett Kraft (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) earned academic honors for the fourth straight season. The Anthropology & Sociology major posted a 3.67 grade-point average (GPA) in his final semester. Kraft had a 14-9 singles record during his senior season and paired with fellow honoree Lee Kojanis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) for an 11-3 record at No. 1 doubles. This is Kojanis' third time being named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. The Biology major finished the semester with a 3.35 GPA and enters his senior season with a 24-14 career singles record and a 23-18 doubles mark. Matt McGranaghan (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley), along with fellow sophomores James Murphy (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and Eric Wiley (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff Manor), earned league academic honors for the second consecutive year. McGranaghan, a Neuroscience major, led the Leopards with a 4.0 GPA. Murphy (3.65) and Wiley (3.42) are Economics & Business and International Affairs majors, respectively. McGranaghan finished the season with a 12-9 singles record, finding seven wins at sixth singles. Murphy and Wiley competed as No. 2 doubles partners for most of the season finishing with 10-9 and 9-8 doubles records. Wiley was also named to the Second-Team All-Patriot League Team for the second straight season. Lafayette finished the season with a 13-8 record, including an upset of No. 4 Colgate in the Patriot League Tournament before losing in the semi finals to No. 1 Navy.
