Men's Tennis Served 6-1 Setback at American

WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.lafayette.edu) - American opened Patriot League men's tennis action with a 6-1 win over Lafayette on Friday afternoon at Reeves Courts. Nicolas Frayssinoux led the Eagles with wins at first singles and first doubles, where he teamed with Juancarlo Vazquez for an 8-5 victory over Andrew Mott and Paul Guarino. Lafayette, with a 16-5 record in 2005-06, has already surpassed the school record for wins in a season. The Leopards fall to 0-1 in Patriot League play. Brett Warren and Brett Kraft won 8-3 at second doubles for Lafayette, while Guarino upended Sebastien Proisy 6-2, 6-2 at second singles for the Leopards' only point. At third doubles, Ben Weltman and Josh Levitz set back Peter Titus and Jeremy Fehrs 8-6 to give AU the doubles point. American won four of its singles matches in straight sets. Titus pushed Jeffrey Schnell to an extra set at No. 4 before falling 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. Mott (No. 1), Warren (No. 3), Kraft (No. 5) and Lee Kojanis (No. 6) also competed for Lafayette. The Leopards will play at Navy on Saturday at noon before returning home for their third match in three days, a 10 a.m. start with Bucknell at Sullivan Courts. Doubles Singles
