Eric Ratchford is in his 13th season as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Lafayette.

In 2005-06, Ratchford guided both teams to school records for wins in a single season. The men posted a 17-10 overall record and the women recorded an 18-4 mark. Ratchford, who has served as the head coach at four different institutions, owns a career record of 294-306 (Men: 171-166, Women: 123-140).

He has over 34 years of tennis teaching experience with 19 seasons as a head coach at the collegiate level.

Prior to his time at Lafayette, Ratchford coached one season at Manhattanville College where he guided the men's program to a 12-2 record and the Skyline Conference championship.

Ratchford spent the 1998-2001 seasons as the head men's coach at Robert Morris University where he posted a 51-36 overall record and guided the team to consecutive Northeast Conference final appearances in 2000 and 2001. He received the NEC Coach of the Year Award in 1999. Ratchford started as the head women's coach at RMU in 1999, a position he continued through the 2001 season. He led the Colonials to a third-place conference finish in 2001 and finished with a 25-27 overall record.

Ratchford began his college coaching career at Endicott College in 1995, guiding the women's program to a 9-6 record - its first winning season in program history. He assumed the duties of assistant men's and women's coach at Idaho State in 1996.

A 1985 graduate of Appalachian State with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Ratchford earned his master's degree from Idaho State in 1997 in Physical Education Athletic Administration.
