Lafayette's Chris Grabowski Named To All-Patriot League Swimming Team

Feb. 27, 2003

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette swimmer Chris Grabowski (Port Carbon, Pa./Pottsville Area) was named to the All-Patriot League men's swimming and diving team after a season in which he broke four school records.

A junior, Grabowski now holds the school record in the 500 and 1000 free, 400 IM and 200 back. He broke the 1000 free mark with a time of 9:48.92 in the Leopards' meet at Bucknell.

Grabowski set the other three records at Patriot League Championships this past weekend. He finished second in the 200 back with a record time of 1:47.91, third in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.39 and fourth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:00.46.

Grabowski was named Male Swimmer of the Week by both the Patriot League and ECAC after tallying three first-place finishes in the Leopards' tri-meet victories over Binghamton and Delaware on Jan. 29.

Grabowski is one of 12 Leopards who qualified to compete at this weekend's ECAC Championships in Pittsburgh.

The Lafayette men's swimming team finished the season with a 5-3 overall record and a sixth-place finish at the Patriot League Championships.
