Chris Grabowski Earns Patriot League and ECAC Swimmer of the Week honors

Feb. 5, 2003

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette junior Chris Grabowski was named Male Swimmer of the Week by both the Patriot League and the ECAC for his performance in the Leopards' tri-meet against Binghamton and Delaware. The Leopards defeated Binghamton, 133-103, and Delaware, 160-62 to wrap up their dual meet season with a 5-3 mark.

Grabowski established a new Lafayette record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:03.80, which also broke Binghamton's pool record. This is the second Leopard mark that Grabowski has set after breaking the previous 500 free record earlier in the season.

In addition to his win in the 400 IM, Grabowski also added first-place performances in the 500 and 1000 free events. His time of 4:40.72 in the 500 free again broke Binghamton's pool record.

Grabowski has the top time for the Leopards in eight different events, and he currently ranks in the Patriot League top five in four events - the 400IM, 200 back, 500 free and 1000 free.

Lafayette will compete at the Patriot League Championships from Feb. 20-22 at Bucknell University.
