Chris Grabowski Sets His Third School Record of the Season

LEWISBURG, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette swimmer Chris Grabowski set his third school record of the season - this time in the 500 free at Patriot League Championships at Bucknell University on Thursday. He now holds the record in the 400 IM, 500 free and 1000 free.

Grabowski finished third in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.39, besting the record-setting time of 4:34.89 that he set in the preliminary swim in the morning.

Jakub Pritz added a third-place performance in the 50 free and Justin Gaudreau came in fourth in the 3-meter diving competition.

Brenda Thayer finished 15th in the 200 IM, while Kris Klein and Lucas Kimmel earned 15th and 16th place finishes in the men's race.

The 200 free relay of Lori Anderson, Jenny Moerschbacher, Brenda Thayer and Erin Rosensteel swam to a seventh place finish.

In the men's event, Jakub Pritz, Chris Grabowski, Greg Van Volkenburg and John Veltri finished fourth and set a school record with a time of 1:23.65.

In the men's 400 medley relay, Grabowski, Pritz, Steven Berkowitz and Stephen Connlain placed sixth.

The team standings at the end of the first day have the Lafayette men in fifth place with 115 points, while the women's team is in eighth place with 26 points. Patriot League Championships continue on Friday and Saturday.
