Lafayette Men's Swimming Sweeps Binghamton and Delaware

VESTAL, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - In the teams' last meet before Patriot Leauge Championships, the Lafayette men's swimming team defeated Binghamton, 133-103 and Delaware, 160-62 in a tri-meet at Binghamton on Wednesday night. The Leopard women fell to host Binghamton, 135-98 and Delaware, 164-69.

Chris Grabowski continued his assault on the Lafayette record books, breaking the school record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:03.80. He also set Binghamton's pool record in both the 400 IM and the 500 free. Grabowski added a third first-place performance in the 1000 free.

Jakub Pritz and Greg Van Volkenburg also set pool records in the 50 free and 200 back, respectively. Pritz won his race by a 38-second margin, while Van Volkenburg had a slim two-second advantage.

Kris Klein added two second-place finishes in the 400 IM and 200 back, while Steven Berkowitz finished third in the 200 free.

Justin Gaudreau won the 3-meter diving event and finished third in the 1-meter. In the women's competition, Daniele Menard finished second in the 1-meter.

Jen Totten swam to a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, while Lori Anderson finished third in the event. Jenny Moerschbacher (200 free), Brenda Thayer (400 IM) and Nancy Haystrand (200 fly) each placed third in their respective event.

The men's team finished with a record of 5-3, while the women dropped to 2-7. Both teams will compete at the Patriot League Championships on Feb. 20-22 at Bucknell.
