EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Leopard men's and women's swimming and diving team defeated Binghamton in their final dual meet of the season on Saturday in Ruef Natatorium. The men's team won 174-106 while the women's team won with a score of 174-126.

The women started off strong, winning the first event of the day as Alison Scudder, Erika Hoke, Nancy Haystrand and Katie Duffy captured the 200-yd medley relay (1:55.39). The relay team went on to capture a combined six second-place finishes for a team total of 14 for the meet.

Jenny Moerschbacher took the 200-yd backstroke event (2:13.76) while co-captain Brenda Thayer swam a personal-best 2:32.14 in the 200-yd breast event. Maura Dailey also swam a personal-best in the 500-yd free event, hitting the wall in 5:20.21 while Carrie Abildgaard took the 200 IM event in 2:15.52.

The women's diving events were a Lafayette sweep, with Alana Anzalone, Cristin MacDonald and Claire Kesicke taking the first three spots in both the one- and three-meter competitions.

On the men's side, Lafayette downed Binghamton with 10 first-place finishes and eight-second place spots for the meet. Jakub Pritz and Kristopher Klein paced the Leopards with two-first place finishes. Pritz captured the title in the 50-yd free in 21.53, a personal best by more than a second, and 100-yd free in 48.04. Klein swam a personal best in the 100-yd back (55.19) for a first-place finish while also taking the 200-yd back in 1:57.53.

Sherry led the pack in the 100-yd breast (1:03.10) while Cliff Haldeman took the title in the 200-yd breast in 2:17.29.

Justin Gaudreau picked up points for the Leopards in the one- and three-meter events with scores of 210.90 and 255.30, respectively.

Lafayette's 200-yd medley relay team of Lucas Kimmel, Dan Sherry, Dan Sheehan and John Veltri took first place while the 200-yd free relay team of Pritz, Sherry, Veltri and Stephen Connlain won in 1:26.45 to end the meet.

The men's team improved to 3-4 while the women rose to 5-3. The Leopards will return to action on Feb. 14-16 when they travel to Annapolis, Md. for the Patriot League Championships.
