EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Leopards earned their first Patriot League win of the season as the men's swimming and diving team beat Colgate, 137-106, Wednesday at Ruef Natatorium. Lafayette improves to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in Patriot League competition.

Freshman Janis Eisl (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Central) earned two first-place finishes on the afternoon, winning the 500-free in 4:56.29 and the 200-breaststroke with a mark of 2:17.84. Also placing first in two events was senior captain Rob Bateman (Lebanon, N.J./Pennington), who won the 200-individual medley (1:59.91) and the 200-breast (2:17.84). Freshman Steven Berkowitz (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) took the 200-fly crown with a time of 1:59.97 and classmate Kris Klein (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) won the 200-backstroke in 2:0013.

The Lafayette 400-freestyle relay team of Dan Sherry (Radnor, Pa./Radnor), David Watts (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott), Eisl and John Veltri (Lawrence, N.J./Lawrence) also came out on top, winning the event in 3:21.71.

Colgate falls to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in conference competiton.

The Leopards wrap up their regular season with a non-conference meet at Binghamton on Jan. 27.
