Leopards drop league meet to the Bison, 179-112, despite superb diving performances.

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's swimming and diving fell to Patriot League opponent Bucknell, 179-112, Saturday at Ruef Natatorium. Divers Mike Sanda (Tokyo, Japan/St. Mary's) and Justin Gaudreau (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) finished 1-2 in the one- and three-meter diving events but it was not enough to give Lafayette (3-4, 0-2) a win.
The Lafayette 400-freestyle relay team of John Veltri (Lawrence, N.J./Lawrence), David Watts (Ednicott, N.Y./Union Endicott), Lucas Kimmel (Chestertown, Md./Queen Annes County) and Dan Sherry (Radnor, Pa./Radnor) were clocked at 3:22.45 to win the event while Lafayette's team James Hertan (Mountainside, N.J./Oratory Prep), John Corrigan (Middletown, N.J./Christian Brothers) , Tom Sheehan (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and Dan Finnegan (Huntington Bay, N.Y./St. Anthony's) finished second.
Earning individual first place finishes for the Leopards was freshman Stephen Berkowitz (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) in the 100-fly and senior co-captain Rob Bateman (Lebanon, N.J./Pennington) in the 200-individual medley.
The Bison improved to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League this season.
Lafayette hosts Patriot League opponent Colgate on Wednesday at Ruef Natatorium.
