Lafayette Swimming Drops Patriot League Opening Meet at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lafayette men's and women's swimming teams dropped their Patriot League opening meet at Bucknell on Saturday afternoon. The men lost 188-107, while the women fell by the score of 162-136.

Junior Chris Grabowski won three events on the day, including the 1000 free in which he set a new Lafayette record with a time of 9:48.92. Grabowski also took top honors in the 200 back and 500 free.

Jakub Pritz added two first-place finishes for the Leopards in the 50 and 100 free. Steven Berkowitz swam to three second-place finishes in the 100 and 200 fly and 200 IM. Lafayette took at least two of the top-three places in eight different events.

On the women's side, Jenny Moerschbacher led the way with three top-three finishes. Moerschbacher finished second in the 50 free and 200 back, while claiming third place in the 200 free.

Jen Totten won the 200 breast and finished second in the 100 breast for the Leopards. The Lafayette women also swept the 200 IM, with Brenda Thayer, Daniele Menard and Totten claiming the top three places.

In the diving competition, Crissy MacDonald took first in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter, while Justin Gaudreau finished second in both events on the men's side.

Lafayette returns to action on Wednesday when Colgate visits Ruef Natatorium for another Patriot League match-up.
