Two Men's Soccer Players Named to NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Regional Teams
Dec. 13, 2007
EASTON, Pa. - Seniors Scott Hawkins and Anthony Sepe were both named to NSCAA's All-Mid Atlantic Regional teams the organization announced on Thursday. Hawkins earned a spot on the second team while Sepe received third-team honors for the first time in his career. Hawkins, an Economics and Business major, was named to the second team after finishing the season with a team-best seven goals, including two game winners. He finished his Lafayette career tied for fourth place in Lafayette history with 26 goals. The All-Regional Team honor is the third-straight for the Whippany, N.J. native as he received All-Mid Atlantic honors following both his sophomore and junior seasons. Last month, Hawkins was also named to the All-Patriot League Second Team, one of four Leopards to earn all-league honors.
For Sepe, the All-Mid Atlantic Region team honor is the first of his career. This fall, the tri-captain recorded a career and team-best five assists while also netting a career-high two goals. The midfielder's nine points placed him third on the team. Like Hawkins, Sepe was also named to the All-Patriot League First Team. The Patriot League honors were the second of his career. Earlier this month, the Leopards were awarded the NSCAA College Team Academic Award after posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.15. Lafayette was one of just three Patriot League men's soccer programs to earn the honor. The 2007 Leopards, under the direction of head coach Dennis Bohn, advanced to the Patriot League championship game and finished the season with an overall record of 10-4-6. The team ended the season ranked fourth in the NSCAA's Mid-Atlantic Region. In addition, Lafayette finished the year ranked seventh in the nation in team defense with a 0.56 goals against average thanks in large part to the team's 10 shutouts.
