EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette men's soccer player Matt Reichenbach (Kingsville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) earned a spot on the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Men's Soccer Academic All-America Third Team. The Civil Engineering major, who was named to the All-District II Team last month, is the first Lafayette men's soccer player to earn All-America recognition in four years.

Reichenbach, a junior defender, was one of three Patriot League men's soccer players to earn Academic All-America recognition. He is also the first Leopard to earn Academic All-America status since Mike Tortora '05, who was named to the First Team in 2004.

Reichenbach in currently enrolled in five courses and two labs. His classes include Fluid Mechanics, Structural Analysis and Steel Design, CE Project Management, Geotechnical Engineering and Design of Concrete Structures.

During his sophomore year, Reichenbach boasted a 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) in both semesters and currently maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.96. Last fall, he was one of only seven Patriot League men's soccer players to record a mark of 4.0 and one of just three Engineering majors to do so.

A key member of the Lafayette defense, he started 15 of the 18 games in which he played this season and 35 out of his career 38 games. The Leopards shut out seven opponents this season, which follows a 2007 year in which they blanked 10 teams and finished the year ranked seventh nationally in team defense with a 0.56 goals-against average.

The Leopards finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 8-6-5 and a league mark of 3-2-3. They finished fourth in the league standings to advance to the Patriot League Tournament for the seventh consecutive year.
