Fink and Plummer Placed on Academic All-League Squad
Nov. 6, 2012
EASTON, Pa. - Two Lafayette men's soccer players, Blake Fink and Julian Plummer etched their names on the Academic All-Patriot League Team after excellent seasons on the field and in the classroom. Fink and Plummer were two of 11 Patriot League members chosen to the academic team, voted on by the League's Sports Information Directors.
Lafayette's pair tied for the most in the League as four other teams had two Academic All-League selections. American, Army, Bucknell, Colgate and Lafayette each had two representatives on the team, while Navy had one. American's Colin Seigfreid was chosen as the men's soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Fink adds his second consecutive Academic-All Patriot League accolade following a season in which he scored two goals and added two assists in 16 games. The Westampton, N.J. native netted goals against Penn and Mount St. Mary's, both Lafayette victories, and had helpers vs. Holy Cross and Villanova. As a Government & Law major, Fink boasts a 3.75 cumulative grade-point average.
A defender that started every game during his first two years on College Hill, Plummer helped Lafayette post six shutouts as a sophomore in 2012. A 2011 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection, Plummer, who hails from Kendall Park, N.J., was named to Lafayette's Dean's List in the fall of 2011 and again this past spring. Plummer helped Lafayette hold opponents to 20 goals in 18 games, the third-least among Patriot League teams.
Second-seeded Lafayette returns to the pitch on Friday in the Patriot League Tournament Semifinal against No. 3 Colgate at American's Reeves Field. Kickoff from Washington, D.C. is slated for 2 p.m.
