EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette junior Brandon Turner has been selected as the Patriot League Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Turner scored the tying goal in the 89th minute of Lafayette's 1-1 draw against American this past weekend.

Turner's first-career tally was assisted by classmate Peter Adubato and helped Lafayette earn an important point as the team jostles for position in the conference standings. He was also part of a defensive unit that held AU to just six shots in the match and three on goal. An Economics major from Bay Shore, N.Y., Turner picks up his first career Patriot League weekly award.

The Leopards (2-1-1) currently occupy third place in the Patriot League standings with seven points after four games. American (2-0-2) remains in a tie for first with Colgate (2-0-2) as each team has eight points. Navy, Bucknell and Holy Cross each have five points with identical 1-1-2 records in conference matches.

Lafayette resumes Patriot League play on Oct. 20 in Hamilton, N.Y. against Colgate after the team hosts NJIT on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
